Builder gel nails in Midlothian, VA
Weak, peeling, or break-prone nails? Builder gel — on our menu as Liquid Gel — adds flexible strength so your natural nails can finally grow long and stay beautiful.
Strength your natural nails can feel.
Builder gel — sold at our salon as Liquid Gel (also called BIAB) — is a brush-on gel that adds a flexible layer of strength over your natural nails. It self-levels for a smooth apex, so nails look naturally perfected rather than thick or artificial.
Grows out with you
Ideal if your nails peel, bend, or break before they ever reach your dream length. The builder layer protects them while they grow.
3–4 weeks of wear
A durable overlay that holds its shine and shape between appointments — most guests rebook every 3 to 4 weeks.
Gentler than acrylic
No harsh drilling into the natural nail and no strong odors. Removal is a gentle soak-off, not a grind-down.
Any finish on top
Wear it milky and sheer, add gel color, chrome, cat-eye, or French — art sits beautifully on a builder base.
What happens at your appointment.
Prep & shape
Nails are gently shaped, cuticles detailed, and the surface prepped — no aggressive filing of your natural nail.
Builder application
The builder gel is brushed on and self-levels into a smooth, strengthened apex, then cured under the lamp.
Refine & finish
Your artist perfects the shape, then applies your chosen finish: sheer nude, gel color, chrome, or art.
Time: plan for about 60–90 minutes for a full set, around 60 minutes for a fill. Your artist will confirm at booking.

Liquid Gel (Builder)
Aftercare: oil your cuticles daily, avoid using nails as tools, and don’t pick or peel — come back for a professional soak-off or fill every 3–4 weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Is builder gel the same as regular gel polish?
No. Gel polish is a thin color coating; builder gel is a thicker, strengthening layer applied underneath that adds structure and protects weak nails. At Jade, it's listed on the menu as Liquid Gel.
Will builder gel damage my natural nails?
When applied and removed properly, it's one of the gentlest enhancements. We never grind into the natural nail, and removal is a soak-off. Damage usually comes from picking or peeling product off at home.
How long does builder gel last?
Most guests enjoy 3 to 4 weeks of wear before a fill. Nails grow about 3mm a month, so the 3–4 week rhythm keeps the apex balanced and the set looking fresh.
Can I get nail art or chrome on top?
Absolutely — chrome, cat-eye, French, and hand-painted art all sit beautifully on a builder base. Art is priced from $15.
Fill or new set — which do I need?
If your set is intact at 3–4 weeks, a fill keeps it going. After several fills or if there's lifting, your artist may recommend a fresh full set for the healthiest result.
